Hello, I have bought my first folding camper and have not yet used it. I have a 1992 conway cruiser. The thought has just occurred to me that whilst I saw the sink had a tap, I don't recollect seeing any water bottles or anything. So my questions are how does the water work? What type of bottle will I need? And do I need to look out for anything else?

Thank you in advance!!

There will be a socket on the outside of the camper where you plug in a water pump (Whale) which goes into an aquaroll (or any suitable container- we didn't use a lot of water in our Countryman so a large white water container was fine) There might be a dome inside on the floor near the sink which you press with your foot to run the water.

Thank you. I went out to look at the socket, I wondered what that was for when we got it!! Makes much more sense now!

Does the waste water just pour down from the sink?

yes there will be a pipe that leads down from the sink and comes out under the van ,site your waste water bottle under that .and don't forget the pump needs a 12v battery to run it plus any 12v lighting .
p.s the dome switches are one of the first things to wear usually, a replacement part is around £6 and a easy retro fit ,happy days

If you don't have different looking water containers for clean (in) and dirty (out) water ... make sure you label/mark them .... we use two aquarolls, one marked with a big red cross .... they're great.

Don't forget to put a penny washer in the plug hole ! this slows down the rate at which the water goes down, thus stopping an overflow from too much water going into the lower plug, and then into the cupboard ?

Thank you all for your help. I went and bought a whale watermaster premium pump, but when I went to try it, the plug (to go into camper) is the wrong shape. The pump had a rectangular shape to the plug, but my campers' socket is round. Anyone know which one I need as I can't find one. Also the black fox I don't have a leisue battery so could you advise on what to get please? Can the pump work through mains elec or does it still need the battery? Also as daft as it sounds I have no idea where you plug your electric cable into. I can only find the one socket for the water.

Any help or advise is very much appreciate

THIS video will give you a general view of assembling your Conway.

And THIS video will show you how to set up the various component parts of your FC.

All models of both Conways and Pennines are different and so not everything on your make and model will be covered by these videos, but you should get enough information to manage your FC from watching these.

hi

i have a 91 crusier,so should be the same as yours.i can not help with the pipe connection as never seen the point of useing the sink.

as to the other,it gets a bit hard to answer as there were alot of different options, for the electric when the camper was new.

with mine you do have to have the battery connected to use the water pump and 12v lights.mine has no built in charger for the battery.mine sits in the under seat next to the cooker area.

also mine did not come fitted out for 240v electrics,so had to do this for myself.

see your in the southwest?how far down?would be happy to have a look at yours if your not to far away.i am near plymouth.

Have a look at the Conway Owners Club website and download the brochure. Also someone on there might have the same unit as you so might be able to give more info.

http://www.conwayowners.org.uk/units.htm

It says mains electric is optional so do you have sockets inside the camper?  On our 1997 Countryman we could use all 12v appliances without a battery when on EHU

Rather than buy a brand new Camper, you could just buy an up-to-date water inlet socket and change that over.

Our 2007 FC has lots of new fittings that I have upgraded as it is often cheaper and usually easier to buy new stuff than it is to hunt around for stuff to use on the original fittings.

Wongers your camper does sound very similiar. The battery goes in the same place. That photo is very similiar to the water inlet we have, sparklier and newer but the same i think. I did email a company that sell the comet pumps who said if I sent they a picture they should be able to help out. I hope it gets warmer soon, it's too cold to do much to it yet!! Can you advise on a leisure battery? Never bought won before, so not sure what to look for.

Our camper has got a couple of 240v sockets inside already, and after going around on my hands and knees I have found where the ehu plugs in.

Again every comment is appreciated, thank you.

R.L its not that easy to install a new pump and housing but not that hard either ,we were in the same position as you the pump inlet was there but no pump and no tube .so we went to caseys in chester and bought a complete new whale kit (also caravan shops) you should have a dome switch on the floor of your unit under and in front of the sink unit ,and looking at the inside of your unit there should be two wires attached to the back of the old inlet socket .take off old socket cut a new hole for the new inlet pump (old ones round new ones square) using the supplied template drill holes for retaining screws ,connect battery and you have pumped water

hi again
if you intend to go on hookup most of the time and only use the battery to power the pump and light, then you would be fine with a lower power battery around 85amp.if you intend making more use of the battery, then go for a 110amp battery or even bigger.
