We were with the camping and caravanning club but they don't give a no claims bonus on trailer tents and ours went up a lot we are now with Richard Keen through the pennine owners clubs we get an extra 10% but it was £60 cheaper than our renewal.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
I'll need that £250 as Caravan Guard run it at £17.00 over Bakers renewal, They also insist on both a hitchlock and a wheel clamp, even though the wheels are removed and live two miles away!

Ivan.
Was that including your UKCampsite.co.uk 10% members discount? Cheers Ratty
After phoning 4 companies of which included Bakers, Caravan Guard and Caravan Club Bakers were the best by far. They will also give you 90 days free cover abroad as well as allowing your close relatives to use your camper and be covered.
Insurance is a strange game and is swings and roundabouts.
Have house contents insurance with Norwich Union and they were happy to include our Dandy trailer and contents as well (classing it as a caravan as long as we had the chasis number). Just done car insurance with them including a 17 year old learner and they gave us a really good price. One company quoted £4,000 plus,
I insured my 2000 Pennine Pathfinder through the C&CC for £217 when I bought it in September, brand new replacement value of £10K, £2K contents, awning etc. Had to use current list price to get new for old though :-(
CaravanGuard quoted a similar amount, but the policy was very restrictive. Demanded a hitch post, hitch lock and wheel clamp as it was under 10m from the road in my driveway and visible from the road. Also needed both when on site. C&CC required either hitchlock or wheelclamp. Caravan Club (member of both) wanted oveer £500 and weren't terribly keen! Will take a look at Bakers in Sept.
Just insured my 25 year old Coleman Gettysburg folding camper with a bit of difficulty as some of you will know most companies wont insure a camper over 15/20 years old.
I eventually insured it through the camping and caravaning club Tel 01784 484646 at a cost of £40 (price was approx £60 on their website so it might be better for you to phone) insuring the camper for £1000 + an extra £250 for contents not a bad price at all seeing as I am not a member of their club.
Have Bakers made a mistake ? I cant see how they can increase by 50% if your circumstances are the same. Here's a tip you can ring your existing insurance company and say you are a new customer and get insurance cheaper than you have been paying, that goes for car insurance as well, for the same cover you have been paying for.
