Hi, we have recently purchased a 1998 Conway Crusader and have done a test set up this weekend. All went well, even the awning wasnt too bad! The only thing we couldnt work out were the flaps on the bottom of the awning. Do the poles at the front of the awning rest on the flaps, as there are no splits or holes as at the corners? Do the flaps need pegging down at all as there are no marks on them from previous use. One final question, does anybody use a groundsheet under the carpet as it does seem a little thin by itself.
By flaps I take it you mean the grey/brown plastic bits at the bottom of the canvas, they generally fold in and the groundsheet goes over them to keep draughts out. If you peg them or put poles on them this could cause them to rip inhigh winds as there will be no movement allowed for, the pegging loops are usually on the outside.
Thanks blue, yes i did mean the plastic bits at the bottom, our problem was at the front of the awning when they are tucked under do you rest the awning poles on the plastic? Our poles have a plastic spike on the bottom that would appear to be to go into the grass and would damage the plastic? There are no breaks in the plastic at the front at all except for the corners which have splits to allow for folding under?
The front corner poles go through the splits with the pastic tucked around them. the spikes go into the grass I have taken the spike off the central pole and just fiddle the plastic aound the bottom of the pole, you may hane to cut another split here
