Hi there. I was wondering if anyone could help us with our problem. We have a 98 Conway Crusader and have a problem with the fridge. It works fine when hooked up to electric and does work off the battery but takes up alot of power and drains it quickly and as we are going to a site in August with no hook up I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to run it off gas? My husband has tried it but he cant see anywhere where there should be a piolet light so we don't know if it's on or not.

Cheers

Maria

Try looking right at the back in the bottom right hand corner, behind a small glass window it is still difficult to see, but what I do is to go outside and put my hand over the air vent, if i can feel heat it is on, if not it's off.

also remember, that the fc has to be level for the fridge to work on gas.as to it draining the battery when on 12v it should only be used on 12v when connected to the car with the engine running.

I tried my fridge on gas last week and as blue says I did not think it was working but on feeling the flue vent I could feel the heat.
I then looked through the little window in the fridge and with my hand shielding the light I could just see the pilot light.

While watching the "pilot light", which is actually the main single flame, turn the gas dial up and down to make sure that the flame also increases and decreases.

On gas, we normally have it on high for 6 or so hours and then turn it down to just below medium.

Hi it seems that nobody has told you how to use it so I will. You should see a button this is the piezo ignizer you have to turn the gas control & push it in at the same time then press to piezo button in & out untill the gas ignites. It can take along time because the gas has to get to the fridge & if it has not been used air will be  infront of the gas, also check that the gas tap for the fridge is open also you can help by lighting the hob as this gets the gas moving quicker. I have in the past taken up to an hour to get them working, they use very little gas. Hope this helps. Iain

As above make sure the 240v and 12v switches are also off before you light using gas. Push the ignition every second or so until it catches and tehn hold dial in for 10/15 secs

They run very well on gas

To make sure enough gas is getting through I used to turn on the gas on the cooker for a couple of seconds. When you hear the piezo clicking keep holding it for at least 30 seconds (as well as the gas )unless you can see the flame in the little window. On the Countryman I either had to put my head right into the fridge or else stand back to look down on it both of which was difficult while keeping the gas knob pushed in & pressing the piezo! The first few times can be quite trying but you'll soon get the hang of it. We found that the fridge worked very well on gas - got even colder than when on EHU.

I have got a conway laser hard top folding camper 1987. The ignition etc for the gas fridge is outside the unit behind a vent. Could anyone tell me how to get the fridge on please. There seems to be an on/off valve and an ignition. Many thanks. Gail

Hi all

Just opened up our Conway cruiser for the first time and we are struggling on site to get the fridge running off the gas. Having read the thread I can see this is likely to take some time. Our question is, should I see the spark of the if ignitor in the window glass in the bottom left of the fridge? Thanks in advance.
