Hi

does anyone know if it's safe to use a slow cooker in an awning? It will mean leaving it switched on while we're out for the day. This season will be the frist time we've used electrics. My mother in law uses hers all the time in her caravan without any problem.

Cheers

Yes yes yes yes yes we do it all the time it makes cooking a meal so much easier and with there only being two of us we get two nights out of it,i take certain precautions like where the mains lead is in relation to the cooker and stand it on a thick piece of wood on the floor if we are away, then if the wind gets up and the awning knocks the table or a dog gets into the awning it can only tip over not get knocked onto any thing else.

they said it couldnt be done so i left it and went camping

a bad days camping is better than a good day at work

One of the best things that we ever bought, just use sensible precautions such as Mike describes. It's great to be out all day and to come back to a warm meal. Check on here and other websites for recipes, you will be suprised what you can prepare.

Mike

Surely they're designed to be left. There's no point having one if you're at home to cook anyway

Great! I use one at home all the time, will now buy a smaller one for camping. Good advice about keeping it away from the sides of the awning incase the wind gets up!

Look at the wattage on the bottom of the toaster rachieb - toaster should be fine as usually not a high power item unlike some of the rapid boil kettles

Think i will throw a cheap two slice one in the camper this year as we seem now to be only on EHU sites currently booked

1000w will be roughly 4A don't forget

Why we often put ours on early Sunday morning its not just the ease with which they cook its the way they do it.

Thanks Dean that seems a really good price, I'll go and have a look.

Mike- I know they're made to be left to cook while you're out, I just wondered if it was safe to leave one switched on in the awning!!
