Hi all, I take my young boys in the fc and find they so often wake up at the first sign of light in the mornings that I have been thinking of blackout curtains for the end windows int he sleeping compartment.
Has anyone else done this and what did you do? Have been thinking about about trying to sew material to the original curtains, or even the silvered type you see in caravans. All suggestions appreciated

Hi
We are having the same dilemma, this trip we used a sleeping pod for youngest with a blackout cover, worked a charm, can give details if required, however the plan is to use safety pins to put up a box of blackout material over the girls bed area.
also looking into getting a company to make a replica sleeping compartment out of blackout material, but that depends on cost.
good luck and if any good ideas come your way let me know!!

Do what i did make a sleeping pod out of blackout lining.

cost me about £15, for the material and a piece of netting which i already had for above the doorway. To provide some dim light and ventilation.

Either take measurements from the old ones or use them as a patern.

Interesting idea about making the whole pod blackout, never thought of that. We are lucky enough to have a newer crusader with the Isabella fabric and have found the sides are quite dark. All the light seems to come through the daft pure white thin curtains they have used on the windows !!

Jon - what material did you use, the only blackout material I have found is a heavyweight blackout and worry it will be very heavy on the elastic .

Hi, I used blackout lining from Abakhan Mill. they are on line and will sell mail order. There are quite a few different weights of blackout lining available. The one i  used is similar to heavyweight polycotton sheeting, and it seems to be holding up ok.

Another alternative is to make blackout curtains and thread them on curtain wires, instead of the poles. The wires go around the end bars and the unit can be folded away without having to take them off !

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the info - have ordered a sample of the 'silver' to see if it matches the new crusader colours
