If it were me I would wait and try it in some 'normal' rain conditions.

After all, this is a drought and all that wind and driving 'dryness' isn't the usual for us.

Wait until a dry weekend and open the unit up and spray water over it (hosepipe bans, due to this horrific drought(?) notwithstanding)

Generally the canvass will need reproofing if water drips through anywhere (by tis I mean not just where poles and bed bases touch), it could be that with the high winds we have had the canvas has rubbed against these hard parts and allowed the water to come through.

Once you proof it you will have to keep doing it so don't make that step too hastily would be my advice.

Good luck

Teach a man to fish and he'll sit around on a boat all day drinking beer!

I would also wait until you have been able to test it, either by spraying, or putting it up in 'normal' rain conditions.  Having had it stored without use for 3 years it could be that the canvas was a little dry, now having had a good soaking the fibres will have swollen and it may be better next time.  Even if you do treat it, any places where the canvas rubs against poles etc will allow water through.

i doubt whether any form of waterproofing would have stood up to this weekends wind and rain .leave well alone if you have only had minor problems

Ours leaked a little by the bed boards last year whilst using it as Bob's bed side, the outer canvas had not been pulled straight and was wrinkled so was touching each other. The driving rain that side he had a wet patch  on his bedboard. Dried it out, straightened the canvas. Kept an eye out in case.....= nothing. Our fault, for not putting it up properly.

BUT driving rain can also get through the zips of the underskirts also. But this is the force of the rain not the canvas that is faulty. Wait and see, you will find out it is okay.

NEVER ever reproof or you will have to continue to have to do it yearly. There are other members whose units are late 1980's early 1990's and never ever reproofed theirs, So not needed unless the person who had it before has already done it worse luck for you then.If not, leave well alone.
