Hi there
We are looking to buy a tt or fc but are totally confused. We are a family of 2 adults and 4 children ranging from 2 to 15 yrs old. We used to own a caravan but never got to take it out as it was such a hassle to tow and storage became a problem. We then purchased a tent in which the kids loved but as there are so many of us we are looking at trailer tents. We then came across folding campers which I think is a cross between a caravan and a tt but they are not as roomy as a tt.   Now we are really stuck as to what to go for the tt seems the better option for room but which one ?? There are so many which is best ?? Or. An you get a fc with a larger awning ?? Please help !!

Our crusader has a big awning...think the footprint dimensions when the awning is up are something like 6m x 5m approx (camper and awning).  The camper is supposed to sleep 6 (2 fixed beds and then the converted seat area) but in honesty, I would imagine it would be a bit cramped, especially with teenagers, who typically want their own space.

Never had a trailer tent, so can't comment on those.

If there were 6 of us I would get a Cruiser folding camper, or similar. For overnight stops you can sleep upto 6. (admittedly in quite cosy conditions)

For more than an overnight stop you could put up the cavernous awning and hang a couple of bedroom tents in it, OR (and this is what we used to do years ago when we went with my parents) put up the main unit, which is easy, and then put up a small tent next to you for the teenagers.

This is what we do with our Quickstop. Main unit for overnight stops, or if we arrive late. Then for a long stay we tackle the awning, or sometimes the girls, 6 & 12, looove sleeping in a small tent next to us.

good advise given above you should be looking at pennine pullman ,sterling or similar 6 berth models ,easy to tow and store and with awning cavernous out sizing some six berth caravans ,lots out there to suit all budgets ,and do remember a 15 year old caravan is past its sell by date a 15 year old folding camper still has another 15 years left in it .

We are a family of 5 (sometimes take a friend for the kids so could be 6) and 2 dogs so need a large trailer tent. We found that the conway classic and Cabanon Jupiter were the largest tt's on the market at no older than 10 years.
The classic's awning (with extra awning extension) was the longest being a couple of inches longer than the Jupiter but the jupiter had the push out wardrobe. We were looking for a classic that also had the sun canopy but the Jupiter has it already.
The beds are large so the under bed pup tents do take 2 kids in each :)
With the awning extension the inside is lovely and large :) We had a dogs cage, wardrobe, two tables, room for shoes near the door and the kitchen set up in the awning and still had room for a little coffee table and chairs with plenty of room to move around.
The sun canopy is large and roomy too and you could easily put the kitchen outside leaving loads more room inside. We used the wardrobe part of the awning as a loo. Ours also has the large front box on the front which takes loads of stuff :)
Hope this helps

Hi there, I know this might be a bit cheeky but we actually have a Conway Crusader Platinum Deluxe for sale in the FreeAds section, there are a few pictures on there so have a look through, it would give you an idea, we have three children 7, 13 and 15 and with the awning up have no problems with space at all.
