Sorry everyone. Bit of a mad day and have not been home to update you all. Wish the forum would work on my iPhone. Any way we are now the proud owners of a 2006 Sunncamp TT. Have no idea of the model number but it hasn't got the kitchen unit ( can you buy these separately ???) it came with the awning and a ton of extras including a Cabonon A bar box, new porta pottie and matching toilet tent (porta pottie and tent will be going straight on ebay unless anyone on here could use it)cooking bits and bobs, ground sheets and all the internal furnishings you can shake a stick at and tons more. The canvas is as new and it has been garaged for its whole life and used in anger twice. We paid £350 for it which I hope is cheap as chips. However the rest of the day was spent chasing over most of the south of England looking for a tow bar for our car, and then an hour and a half swearing and crying while I fitted it(Don't you just love French cars)on that note if you are in the south of England and need anything tow related I highly recomend Phyl Taylor tow bars in Horndean. They had my bar in stock gave me a witter kit for only £100 and provided me with loads of extra wiring diagrams and notes. So going to have a go at putting it up in the mother in laws garden tomorrow and then off to our usual haunt at Steeple lease at the end of the month to break her in so will let you know how we get on. Now to start replacing all our light weight gear with some slightly sturdyer stuff. Any suggestions of bits and bobs to buy.

We are very happy with it. As soon as small person wakes up we are off round the MIL to have a go at setting her up and have a good old dig thorough to see what else we have got. After looking on ebay and the classifieds on here it doesn't seem worth selling the loo and tent so I am offering it up for a swap for something interesting or a case of beer if anyone is interested. The new search for a kitchen unit has begun so does anyone knows where I might be able to source one. Probably ought to do a seperate post on that issue though.
Once again thank you everyone for your support and advice. Really glad I have joined the forum.

We bought a 1985 Conway Gazelle with awning 2 yrs ago for the same reasons as you - and haven't looked back. We paid £200 on ebay and the canvas was in generally good condition, although it did have a couple of small tears, which we patched up (using tear aid) as soon as we bought it and it has lasted very well. We will need to re-do the patches before it's 1st outing this yr just to keep it strong.
Since owning we have replaced the tyres, the jockey wheel and fitted a trailer light board but with a little TLC it is doing just fine and we hope it will last another couple of seasons. We have spent around £150 on these replacements/tear aid and some Nikwax waterproofing spray in total over the last 2 yrs so I'd say it's an investment (lots of spares etc. are available on ebay at good prices)
Check out the Gazelle if you want a model that it VERY easy to erect (I've done this myself and I'm a 5 foot female with no muscles - and put the whole thing up within 1 hour - without the awning it's up in minutes)
Thee's one going on Preloved at the moment for £375.
