Well after many many years since the age of one im no longer under canvas, ive still got my outwell pollycotton tunnel tent but after a year of owning the raclet trailer tent which ive enjoyed it has now been part exchanged against a 2008 bailey pageant champagne series 6 with an end bathroom with walk in shower etc, i liked the trailer tent but the work involved pitching and making all the units up etc started to get a bit too much, the british weather has played a big part in our decision like at easter we went away and booked 4 nights planning on going thursday night after work, anyway i finished work a bit late and was not in the mood to spend 1.5 hrs setting everything up in the dark so that was one night lost, and then we packed up on the sunday as mondays forcast was heavy rain and it did so that was another night lost, putting canvas away wet then having to wait for some dry weather has started to get all a bit too much so a tin tent it is, it means i can now get away for more weekends too as its a case of legs down and kettle on as i wont be using an awning as that will only be used for weeks away, the caravan has all the mod cons as you would expect, like gas and electric blown air heating, hot running water etc etc etc...

Had a bad run this year with our TT. It's our 3rd year using it and up until Easter we never had a wet pack up. We have now had 2 in a blooming row. Keswick last week was more like an underwater pack up it was that bad. To be honest though we have a 4 night minimum when we take the TT, anything less we take the smaller tent. It only took us an hour and half to dry out so not too bad.

Fully understand why people move over to the dark side, probably will myself one day. My girlfriend keeps nagging for one but im resisting for a good few years yet. I just find caravans a bit dull, you look at tents and there are so many weird and wonderful shapes and colours. A row of tin tops all look the same.

Good luck in your new caravan, and don't forget to get the Outwell out from time to time :-)

Good decision.  We had 4 nights away at Easter and when we heard that rain was forecast everybody on the meet packed their awnings away on Sunday night.

Enjoy!!

I hope i still have quite a few years left of sleeping under canvasonly just, but the 'bed pods' are canvas! I love the smells and the sounds etc. It's funny how people almost seem to feel apologetic (although at the other end of the spectrum i loathe the term 'upgraded to a caravan'). I don't think my body has that many more years of sleeping under canvas left in it. I am hoping someone will bring out a powered hard top, but somehow i think that by the time I am 50 a 'tin tent' will be my holiday home.

It's all about enjoying being outside and the freedom to holiday wherever you choose with your own 'home from home' really, it doesn't matter what type of unit you use, so long as you're smiling!  So enjoy!

Exactly.  I wouldn't say we "up-graded".  We just decided that a caravan was what we needed at this time to suit our familly and the way we want to camp.

Good for you...think we'd have gone for a caravan if it wasn't for the storage issues...the FC fits nicely in the garage.

Garry C!

Hello!

Im sorry to contact you on this thread but I don't know how else to LOL.

My husband has been admiring  the photos of your DIY extension to the trailer on another thread and wants to know how you fixed the rear access panel?

(he is really impressed by your work! )

If you could shed some light it would make my hubby's day!!!

Thanks in advance!
