HI, I have a Mazda 6 estate 2.2L 180bhp, pulls the Quartz 6 without a problem.Telegraph hill last summer was no problem. As for head room I am almost 6'2" & have no problem with the 6.
I have found on cars with sunroofs my head is very close to the roof, have you looked at cars without sunroofs to help with your height ?

Hi, help and advice needed please..

We have just bought a 2004 peugeot 307 1.6 sw hdi. We are now wanting to upgrade from a family Coleman tent to a pennine pullman 2002 6 berth trailer tent. We also want to purchase a maxxraxx 4 to carry our bikes but we have now read that the 307 estate is light on the nose! Does anyone know if the set up I have mentioned will be ok for towing with the 307?

May I just say that you can't just drive up hills. The proper use of gears and revs is an essential part of successful towing. Not trying to teach grandma to such eggs.

Ive owned a normal trailer in the past which we chucked all the camping gear in and I towed that with a Renault megan scenic. So worried about towing the trailer its the weight ratio with the peugeot being light on tje front end.

We use my Rover 75 2.0 Diesel Automatic and it tows our Pennine Pullman with absolute ease whilst sat in the lap of luxury. Often forget it's even on the back if it's balanced properly.

In terms of head height I am 6ft 4 and have plenty of room with another adult even sat behind me. It's a big car and can be found at ridiculously cheap prices - although you do have to compromise with the fact that Rover aren't around any more.

hi Team beam
if you are looking to carry 3 or 4 bikes on a rack attached to your towbar.then i doubt very much you will have the available tow bar weight to tow a camper as well.

Hi, have you thought about a ford galaxy or s max tdci, my dads friend has just bought one, he's is also very tall and reckons its brilliant.
He also bought a brand new massive caravan and the car to go with it.
Loads of head height good mpg and loads of room and must pull well as the size of his caravan.

As many of you know ... I put two bikes on my MaxxRaxx, and one on the rear of the Pullman. Also a Thule Atlantis Roof Box, and fully loaded Estate. Nose weight on Pullman is adjusted to the low end of the recommended range ... results ina level train and no towing probs.

Renault scenic 2007 1.6 towed are fc but was a bit sluggish when loaded 2 adults 2 kids 4 bikes but was sluggish when not loaded as well. Now got astra estate 1.8 petrol auto.140bhp alot better if you have trouble reversing I would recommend an automatic.

We've towed our crusader with 2ltr diesel audi A4 or a 2ltr diesel BMW 3 series, both of which tow it fine, but we were told a 1.6 petrol engined car, such as a focus or astra would pull it easily.

I was also going to suggest a tdi Mazda 6 estate, great tow car and very adjustable seat. I have the opposite problem to you (short legs) and out of all the large estates this was the most adjustable so I could get a good driving position. My husband is 6ft and finds it v comfortable too so might be worth a sit in one.

Our 1.4 petrol jazz seems fine pulling a pennine fiesta. I recon it could also pull the Pullman, but would not be comfortable with a pathfinder. We've taken it up some quite steep hills. It can slow a bit up long hills on the motorway, but have never had to drop below 55 due to power.

I think its the maxxraxx that would be the problem but not sure of any other way of transportong the bikes :/

We have solved our problem on the penine pullman and bought a caravan instead :) We now own a Swift Azzura (5 berth) our Peugot 307 SW 1.6 hdi pulls it beautifully, thinking of popping the bikes on the roof of the car now.

Anyone favour any particular racks?
