We have just purchased a Conway Countryman 2007. It didn't have a battery with it and we are having difficulty getting one to fit in the box. We even took the camper down to our local camping shop and they were very puzzled by the size of the box. Has anyone solved this problem?

We have a pennine fiesta which probably has the same size battery box ie very compact.

It has a moulded section in the base for the battery which restricts the battery size.

The only battery with a reasonable price tag that would fit was this one

http://performanceleisure.co.uk/product/XV24/

Although its states that it is 257mm long it's actually 250mm at the base which is were it matters.

Just my own opinion but I just use a s/h car battery now going strong for 3 years, cost me nothing. In the past I have spent loads of money on leisure batteries for them to fail if I forgot to charge them over winter.

Thank you Sterling for your reply. Our local camping shop suggested a car battery but said we would have to keep it charged all year which sort of put us off . . . . . . we weren't sure how much it would cost us in terms of electricity to keep it plugged into charger all year. Have you had problem with it going flat?

No over this winter I was suprised to find it 75% charged and only took 12 hours to full charge, go to your local garage and get an old one that won,t start a car. I am lucky as I own a garage that,s how I got mine plus I have supplied other people.A liesure battery will not put up with being left uncharged over winter, I get plenty brought to me to try and rescue them but 9 times out of 10 they have had it £50-95 reduced to £5 scrap in a year.If you search this has come up more than once recently
