Just pick notice any picked up a 1993 conway cruiser, green, did not notice any rips. Just put it up, and on take down noticed a 15cm tear on the green canvas at the top, not on a seam. So maybe caused by us, done know.

Anyway - need to repair it. Current using duct tape to stop it ripping further.

As its not on a seam, whats the best way? - green canvas strip and glue?

Would prefer to get same color but not sure possible due to age and fade of canvas.

Any advice appreciated

Ok, just reading through other posts and people have mentioned: Tenacious tape so just ordered some. As the area is a non stress area, will this suffice eg put a strip on both sides?

And now just bought some tear mender aswell to put on initially - overboard??

Or should I then look at getting some canvas - if so, wheres best to get some - looking a light green now with the fading fabric?

If you are going to have a canvas repair then you may need to send it off somewhere to have it done professionally. You could buy a curved needle and some canvas thread from a haberdashers (most markets have a stall)  and put a few neat stitches in but as it's not in a stress area, tenacious tape should do the job very well.

It is technically a temporary measure but tbh it will probably last longer than the camper. Just make sure you always have some spare in the drawer.

I agree with Angela, there's a roll of tenacious tape in the drawer by the door of my camper! I had a huge tear in a very high stress area and the tenacious tape fixed it and it holds fast. I couldnt afford to have it professionally mended, especially since the awning is so old I may as well save my money until I can afford to have a whole new awning made up. Although yours is a few years younger than mine, I would say a similar thing applies - if the tenacious tape makes a functional repair and your awning doesn't leak etc, save the cost of a professional repair  against replacing it when there's more tape than canvas!

speak to Graham at tent valeting servicing, he should be able to supply you with an off cut of the canvas.
He did for my 1999 cruiser.
I find the tear mender is very good it's been on the market since 1932.

Hi, I successfully repaired a rip in a high stress area of my old Combi Camp TT a few years ago using a combination Tenacious tape, Seam Grip adhesive and an old cut off of canvas.
Using the Tenacious tape I patched the inside of the canvas (at the rear apex of the TT), I then coated a patch of canvas with the Seam Grip glue, with some more Seam Grip around the edge of the tear on the tent and applied that to the outside of the rip and allowed it to cure for around 10~15 mins.
This was on day 2 of our 7 day stay and lasted (without leaks) for the duration. It also lasted for the next 2 seasons without fail and, as far as I know, is still holding up.
