Hi, can anyone help. We have bought a Conway Cardinal Clubman 1994 Hard Top Folding Camper. Its in excellent condition for its age except that the pipe keeps popping of the water pump on the outside of the camper when you try to pump water through. Its has nothing to keep it on the part which is connected to the van. Can anyone tell me if there should be something to keep the pipe attached to the bit on the van i.e. some sort of jubilee clip. It is a Whale super sub 881, can you buy other pumps that fit the camper or can I get it fixed. We live in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Any advice would be welcome, its our 1st Conway.

Many Thanks

doesn't solve your problem, but i'm grateful for atkiman's reminder of why I no longer have a husband!

Mine's older than yours but there's two electrical connections and one bit where a pipe slots onto a tube on the outside of my camper. I imagine a very powerful pump would produce the same effect and a very small jubilee clip might hold it in place. is it possible that someone has upgraded to a pump that is stronger than the original?

Hi
Thanks for replying, its looks like its a common fault. Hubby will have to get his thinking cap back on or be prepared to do alot of standing around outside when we want water.

What sort of water heater do you have, and what sort of connection is on the outside of the camper?  This will depend upon the fitment needed to attach... if it is a whale system you should have something like http://www.whalepumps.com/rv/product.aspx?Category_ID=10006&Product_ID=7&FriendlyID=Watermaster

If it is a carver heater then you should have http://www.towsure.com/product/Carver_Thames_Water_Pump_w_Hose

the 'plug' that fits into the camper varies on each of these, where as the actual water pump that fits into the barrell is very similar.

Hope this helps

the water pipe is secured to a "stub" within the housing with a jubilee clip. you need to remove the 2 I think screws in the face of the part that plugs into the van which then splits in two halfs to gain access to the jubilee clip

Hi, the bit that fits into the water bottle is a Whale Supersub 881 but the clear plastic pipe fitted to it is too big for the blue connection within the housing on the camper. There's nothing else except the filter at one end and the clear plastic pipe. So when you activate the foot pump within in the camper the force of the water knocks the pipe of the blue bit in the housing. It just seems as if somethings missing between the platic pipe and the blue connection on the camper. Could it be something as simple as a Jubilee clip or should there be some sort of inner to make the end of the pipe smaller so tighter when pushed onto the connector? Thanks everyone for your advice so far.
