Had our first go at putting the Exportmatic up just for the experience & plans to give it a good clean :) Unfortunately my daughters boyfriend couldn't make it so just me and the girly teenager, with my mum supervising from the car.  Got to say it's fantastic :)

Steep learning curve tho. The site owners idea of level meant 'very slightly sloping', and in my naievity, following his advice, the towing end was pointing the wrong way.  Took 1.5 hours to put up, and couldn't quite get the roof level, but hey ho, I know better now :)  Down in 15 minutes with a bit of wailing from the teen, and from me when she let go of one of the end panels when it was half down (ow, bruised and battered!) - but things could have been a lot worse!

All in all, very pleased :)  The awning, well I'll leave that for another day...

Few queries -  how do I explain the Rapido when I book a pitch, and what size do I want for it + awning + car?

Thanks

Edit: must confess, on reflection, am sitting here having the heebie jeebies about the whole thing and wondering if I've made the right decision. It all seems quite daunting...

Book in a a caravan if no option for folding caravan.

Size wise you book your van size plus awning generally

Give it a few goes first and all will become easier. We had never towed or out up a folding camper or personally had any sort of tent before we ventured in. It gets much easier after first couple of goes and you get into a routine. Write it down if it helps and get your own specific jobs to do

Once all that is done enjoy the great outdoors and reward yourself with a nice glass of something cold

Thank you both :)  I'm sure you're right, frist few times there will be much head scratching!!  I think being so shattered after putting it up, not being able to get it level & therefore unsecure to leave, I went away with the bad impressions rather than the good.

Will take it out again next weekend and have another go :) There's no rush!

Some sites accept them as trailer tents believe it or not. Maybe its something to do with the weight I dunno. They do take some practise to put up but after you've done it a few times you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

I used to live in Spratton years ago too just up the road from Brixworth.

The trials of putting them up are outweighed by the space you get when you finally do.

We never seem to get it perfect, but have stopped worrying about it, it does sometimes take a bit of brute force.

we have had our confort for 4 years now and like you we struggled to put it up first time, took a couple of hours i recall.we can now get it up in about 30 mins, that includes getting level and fitting the inside stuff.i found that when i first tried to erect it i was too fussy about getting everything dead level, since then i have found that near enough seems to work better.if the door closes nicely and the back panel fits nice you are not far out.always have plenty of wooden blocks etc with you to cater for sloping ground

You have got instructions??

I loved my Rapido, but as it was just me, I couldn't put it up ...

Keep at it, they are great!
