Here's my nice new luggage rack for my Stratos....
Some assembly may be required..
Spent a couple of hours doodling some ideas, then dug around in the darkest depths of my brain and dusted off all the old trigonometry from school. Had a happy couple of hours working out all the angles I need, then discovered a website that can do it all for you.
Measured, and cut the bars for the main hoops:
Welded and tidied.
I have cut, drilled and welded on the brackets for the crossmembers. Will have to post pics next week because I got rained off.
That looks just the job... I made an offer to someone on Ebay, but they didn't reply... (Thought the buyer might have sold it me if they didn't want it)... They are like gold dust, on the second hand market they are pretty much non existent... Perfect way to carry bikes, and maybe a couple of moon chairs... Could buy a new one, but it's £270 towards the tin tent I dream of...
Having forgotten all about this thread, it's about time I updated it.
Having tested it for a year, it takes about five minutes to assemble/disassemble is nice and stable, and will take my 20 stone standing on it. Cost about £25.
Wow! That's a really good job! Are they completely removable? ie We had the underbeds also - not sure they would have fit with the rack over to the side.
They are class man! You could market them I'm sure!
2 minutes to remove the hoops. Just one bolt through the box section. I re-inforced it with some tubing inside the trailer box section, drilled through and put some extra nuts on the other side. Then it all tucks under the body. I made the crossmembers far enough apart to fit around the tyres, but they can all be separated after sliding out of the hoops, if neccessary. Glad you like it.
Hi there, ive just bought a cabanon luggagr rack but can't see how it attaches to the trailer tent legs. Can you help me at all?
Many many thanks if you can, am pulling hair out!
