Thinking getting a breathable ground sheet for our TT - anyone have pros / cons of using one that they's like to share?

Some will let worm casts & damp through, we alseway put a plastic sheet underneath. Before I get flammed down again we have never been asked to have a breathable one to save pitches & alsway been told that the 'rule' was for seasonal pitches.

We find thay they mak the floor feel warmer & comfortable

I was worried about the damp / mud coming through. We have a normal groundsheet with the tent but the campsite we are looking at charge £1 a night extra for non-breathable groundsheet.

We have a Kampa Easytread (which is a close weave one) for our porch awning and have a same sixe cheap tarp to go under it if using on hard standing. We have one of the open weave rubbery type ones for the full awning whch are lovely and soft underfoot but you will get wet feet if fround is wet

Stick with what you have got if you aren't fussed and build the £1 extra into the cost. Some sites ask you to lift the non breathable ground sheets during the day

Mine is breathable, I sometimes put a cheap groundsheet underneath it on hardstandings, but that's more to ptotect it, as it was pretty pricey. Having said that, it's in its fifth year of faithful service now and looks like new still. You need something on your feet if it has rained as the water will come through where you tread. I do prefer the look of it to a traditional groundsheet. Sites seem to get more and more hung up about breathable. We have even been on one site that asked for them to be lifted even if they were breathable! One of the few times in life i have not followed such a request - we'd practically have to dismantle the awning every day.

Rubber Breathable Groundsheet  +  Damp Ground  =  Worm

Worm  +  Bare Feet  =  One Very Loud Scream.

We found they're OK in dry weather/dry weather set up, but as soon as rain arrives or on a wet set up we now put an ordinary smaller ground sheet down in the central (more used) area on top of the Breathable one, then take it off once the weather improves.
