I would advise opening it up as soon as possible even if it is still raining. The problem is 'anerobic conditions' (no ventilation) when the FC is closed up. Being out in the rain won't cause mould, it's leaving it closed and damp that is the issue. I've often had to wait a day before opening up (coming back from thecontinent on overnight ferry for example), and got away with it but I wouldn't want to wait much longer, and certainly not 3 - 4 days.
