as long as you find a good one they are a great unit.easy to put up,great weather protection and ideal for outside storage.
the only real downside over a soft top camper is the winding system can go wrong if not maintained.also the roofs can brake down (de laminate or crack)if you find one in good nick and have to store outside well worth covering to protect the hardtop from the sun.

We've had two.  The 1991 did not have a toilet inside the camper but had much more storage space and I actually preferred the layout.  We then had a 1998 model with toilet compartment and cassette porta potti.  We never had any problems with our roof mechanisms but we did use the covers on the roof supports, which keep the rain from entering the telescopic poles.

One of the things we found most useful  was the fact that they have a normal awning rail so we could use the full awning for holidays and we bought a porch awning for weekends.  Also, the beds slide out so we could keep them covered if we had to pitch in the rain.

We did use a winter cover as we had to store outside, but the hard top does give a measure of protection.

To be honest, I can't think of anything about them that we didn't like or caused us problems.  We only sold the last one because we decided to put a caravan on a seasonal pitch last year because of health problems and couldn't justify keeping something worth that amount for the odd trip somewhere else.
