can anyone tell me if the fridges in a conway countryman year 1995 are quiet when they are switched on.i recently bought this camper and when i switched fridge on from 240 volt supply i could"nt here that noise you get as with household frigdes.the seller did assure me it was working.are these replacable as they would have to be a certain size to fit into its slot. thanx googie
just sold a'97 countryman the fridge is totally silent !!! you will get the best out of it if you operate it on gas it gets really cold!!!
you can test it if you put it on 240v fom a household socket for a couple of hours (folded down with the cover on) and then check the outlet behind the fridge (you will be able to feel the heat ,not very hot but noticable)

Hi Googie - we wondered if the fridge in our brand new Pathfinder was working because there was no sound from it (on mains), but we left it on while I faffed about with curtains, filling cupboards, sterilising the water system, etc, and it was COLD in there when I checked after about an hour (especially noticable if you touch the metal shelves, or stick your hand in the ice-making compartment)! Thinking about it, I can't imagine camping fridges would be noisy - imagine all those fridges clicking on and off over-night - you'd never sleep! Enjoy the Countryman.
best thing to do is connect to mains before you go away , if you have twin electrics on your towbar it will keep it topped up until you reach your destination ,then just flick over to gas!!
just dont forget to change the switches or you'll be wasting your time!!1(did it once and was not happy)
