hi all,ive yet to buy my electrical hook up lead for FC.ive noticed you can get different lengths.would 10 metre be around the norm for campsite hook up? thanx googie.
Hi googie welcome to the site ten or fifteen should be fine a few campsites H U can be a fair way to get to but the site will have some extension leads in this case (normally)
The standard length of an EHU cable is usually 25 metres. Mind you sod's law often comes into this. Buy a longer cable and you always pitch next to the electric bollard! Buy a short canble and you are miles away!!
I was going to say I reckon the lead that came wth our Bailey was about 20 mtrs. I would not want it any shorter as I have been at full length before now.
------------- "You can not change the wind, but you can adjust your sails"
IEE regulations(bs 7671) state that a flexible cord or cable connecting a caravan or moter caravan to a pitch socket shall be 25mtr +/- 2mtr. This is the measurment all sites have to work from. Therfor I should make sure you're cable is 25 metres long, you should then find you are never found short.
I would recommend that you get the shop to try out the lead b4 parting with your hard earned as when we bought ours we only found out it didn't work when we arrived at site and needed to put up the lights!
The 2nd time in France we had to hire an extra length of cable hook up. We now have 2 lengths - a short one and a long one! And if necessary we can join them together! This is the story of our camping life - we always think we've done the right thing - made the right choices only to find ourselves needing something bigger/smaller!!

Yes - I was in France for 3 weeks with a faulty unit.
I always thought most campers were honest until the day my husband left the washing up to come and get 20p for the meter and - yes, you've guessed - somebody pinched our dirty crockery!!
