We have just bought a 2007 Raclet Floreal TT after 5 years of camping with normal tents. The reason for the change was because we love tent camping but got so fed up of sleeping on airbeds and of being either too hot or too cold.
We are, so far, delighted with our TT and wish we'd bought it years ago. The beds are so comfy and cosy and the canvas makes it warmer at night and cooler in the day.
The TT is as roomy as our old tent was, but seems even more so with the amazing amount of under bed storage.
Erecting the TT is an absolute breeze. The cab (bedroom) sections goes up in 10 minutes flat and the awning part in a leisurely 30 mins - a bit longer if there's a cold beer involved - but I'm sure will get quicker as we get used to it.
We have been considering this change for a few years, and am really glad we did it. We purchased a second hand model from a dealer rather than shelling out for a brand new one and finding we didn't like it. Buying from a dealer gave us peace of mind that it had been checked and nothing was broken or missing. They also gave us a demo of how to put it up, and heaps of valuable advice. Towing was totally fine, although nervous at first, you barely notice it after a while - it's really no problem.
Another benefit is that the kitchen unit attaches to the trailer and you can leave all your pots and pans in the unit. Likewise, much of our camping gear is now permanently stowed in the trailer which literally means we can hitch it on and set off.
We have only had our trailer tent a month and already been camping more times this year than in the last two years put together. And in warmth and comfort too!
