We've had our Camplet or two months and love it! But every time we come to pack up we can't get the two halves to match up to close the clasps. Anyone else one across this?
If it has the gas strut, then it's not unusal at all. The strut pulls the lid out of line so you end up having to use the chamfered striker plate near the kitchen to guide it in.A little vaseline on this will help.
This was explained to us when we picked up a new unit a few months ago. It was recommended to push down on the front corner (a-frame end) and secure the external latch at that end first. It gives you better leverage to give the lid a quick shove rearwards if necessary, which in turn helps the striker slip into place at the kitchen end.
Also, before folding the canvas back into the shell, make sure your mattresses etc aren't too close to the edges. That can stop the framework from folding back completely and makes the whole thing a pig to close properly.
The guy at Camperlands was insistent that you must always secure the external clamp first, as this will then line up the internal clamp at the other end to fit straight in. Only time this hasn't worked for me was when I tried to pack too much gear inside on the bed before closing up!
