I follow this forum since one year. Now I have a request to you.
But before I want to introduce myself with some words. I'm Hannes from Austria - please excuse, if my English is not really good ;-) - and I have imported a Raclet Super Quick Stop one year ago from England.
Folding campers are hardly unknown here in Austria. In Germany as well. Therefore it is unpossible to get spare parts. Now I hope that one of you may help me!
I'm really happy with our Super Quick Stop and it is in a very good condition. But there is one thing I'm not happy about: The main canvas is completely faded out, not waterresistant and on the roof there are a lot of mouldy spots. Besides there are some seams open.
Because of this I think to invest for replacing the main canvas.
And now my requests:
Does anyone of you know...
+) ... a dealer in England who sell new main canvas for Raclet folding campers?
+) ... a manufactuer who rebuilds main canvas? (I would send my old one as a pattern)
+) ... someone who sell a used main canvas for the Raclet Super Quickstop? I would buy it for a reasonable price if it is in a very good condition.
I thank you for reading my "extensived" thread ;-) and hope for a lot of replies.
thank you for the info. As an alternative I think about buying a new main canvas directely at Raclet. Did anyone of you already try to get a new canvas for his Raclet trailer tent? It seems to be a odyssey... Neither with email nor telephone I got informations from RACLET! Do someone of you know a dealer in the UK who is able to organize a new main canvas for a RACLET? Furthermore I have another question: I found out that "RACLETCHARLIE" owns a Globetrotter as well. But he wasn't been online for some time now. So I tried to send him a PN. But I couldn't find a possibility to send a private message to the members of this forum. Isn't it possible?
I have used Casey's Outdoor Leisure and had very good service from them.
As others have said it is possible to have a new canvas made, and I had one made for a Conway folding camper by http://www.tentvaletingservices.co.uk/ They made a very good job of it, although it was quite expensive.
I would try the Raclet dealers first to see if you can get a Raclet Canvas replacement from them, as this may work out less expensive than having one made.
I have picked a little pennine pullman which is need of some care and attention and am looking at the possibility of having a brand new canvas made and fitted.
I have checked out the TVS company and they look like a very promising service, i was wondering if you could tell me how much you paid for your new canvas i understand that it wont be cheap.
Not cheap at all, but it did give the camper a new lease of life as the original canvas was beyond repair, but the camper itself was fine. (we did purchase new runners as well) The total cost was just of £1000 for the canvas and a canopy and the runners. We drove up there, left them the camper for the day and picked it up with the new canvas on the same evening. Very pleased with it, we only sold it as due to health problems decided to go the caravan route.
