Hi - My hubbie was a bit over the top last week whilst on holiday and pulled the canvas so tight that the window of our Conway countryman split near the seam - I have located the pvc to replace it but am wondering if this is something I would be able to attempt to sew with a regular sewing machine - any advice would be appreciated - thanks Sharon

I think that the large volume of canvas and pvc would be difficult to fit in the space between the needle and the main part of the sewing machine.  Good luck.

Your machine may take it. You would need to use a 'jeans' needle, and put some tissue paper each side of the PVC and sew through it, otherwise the PVC will kind of stick to the needle & foot, and also to the sewing table, and cause 'drag'.

I've replaced a window in the awning of our Combi Camp using my old Singer treadle machine, but I believe someone on the 'camping under canvas' section has used a modern domestic machine to do this.
