Sounds like chassis no. 86 in 1984. The 600 will be the max gross weight. The plate on our Pennine Fiesta looks like this: Chassis No.196/96 Max Gross Wt.750 kg All the actual numbers are stamped, the rest is printed, so that ties up with what you are seeing on a painted plate.
