We leave our cushions in. We are going to give our FC a good clean next weekend, and leave it all ready for next Season.
Did a bit of rearranging last weekend, and bought some new cutlery mugs etc..
Really Dont want to put it away till next year though

Surely you don't have to with a Dandy? Is it a winterised one?

Only reason we don't go in mid winter is because of difficulty of drying everything out potentially not because of cold weather

Yes Sunshine, it is a winterised one, but TBH we're not that keen on going away in the FC when the nights are short and the weather turns cold...

We have gone away in October once or twice, and March once(it snowed lol) but i know some hardy folk who go away in all weathers!

I'm far too wimpy for that, although hubby once suggested we go away for Christmas!!

We normally   go away in the October half term school holidays and stay in a static. We're going to a site near Paris this October.

Couple more trips for us this year hopefully. Not worried about cold nights its more the getting dry that becomes an issue in off season. We can open on drive but its still a pain having to do it

For those thinking of doing France or Europe in general just do it! The FC's come into their own for ease of towing and opening them fully up in the hot weather is just fantastic - a huge advantage over a tin top

If we were able to do a long  summer in Europe I would have a FC every day over a caravan. For our Uk weather I can see the attraction of a caravan for year round trips as its just easier

We would normally be packing down now for the winter, but we have just bought a new FC (collected it today), so I am determined to get in at least 1 more trip away.

As we have a Dandy, it doesn't matter If it's a wet take down we don't have to put it up again to dry it out. Our new camper also has underfloor heatier so that should help for the colder nights!

Kelper.. I remembered reading you stored your camper in the Loire and when we got back I had a quick search to see where you stored it. Is it still at La Grande Michellerie? That's the cheapest place I've found since looking and it's in the area we like to head to, so it wouldn't be too far to drop off/pick up. Can I ask, what do you do about bedding? We are still using sleeping bags but I've considered changing to duvets and sheets for next year. Then I guess we just take dirty bedding home and pack it everytime we go on our main holiday?

We decided, in the end, to store at a place near Angers. It's much more modern and high security than the other ... and is only 185 euros a year.
For bedding we use a slightly quilted mattress cover, sheets and summer duvets.
We're lucky in having relations who live in the Charante ... so after the ladies have flown home from the nearest airport to our final camping site, I take the FC to the relations home and do a wash of all bed linen, towels etc ... some ironing, put everything into a large vacuum pack 'case' and pack it into the camper.
Then tow to storage ... drop off the FC and drive up to Cherbourg for the ferry.
It all works very smoothly and saves a lot on ferry charges, fuel costs and driving time.
One could do a mega wash etc at the final campsite and achieve the same scenario ... use sleeping bags for the last night?
Hope that helps.
If you want further information on the storage place, let me know and I'll e-mail you details. If you are interested in the other store ... Val A uses it at the moment, so she could provide you with details.

Well we're off tomorrow for a long weekend. DD has a training day on Friday so we are setting off as soon as she has finished school tomorrow:-)
Hoping for nice weather for our last weekend of the season.
I've been looking at prices for Brittany ferries for next year. They are   expensive!!
Used to slumming it on the Dover to Calais crossing, for a fraction of the cost.

Might be last one but may get away in half term for a couple of nights someewher local if forecast looks dry enough at the time
