Hi Miserly - You may remember be, I have only been a camplet owner for a few months but you have more or less taught me everything I know!!! We finally got round to taking the roof bars off our pegeuot 207 and yes you are right, they do not fit on the camplet as they are too wide - very annoyed!!! I think you mentioned a while ago that you had bought thule bars that fit on the camplet, do you happen to know what the model no was please? we will really need to get something over the next 6 months...
so annoying as the feet from our roof bars grip onto the camplet rack fine but they are welded onto the bars so I dont see how we can use them if the bars as too small (its a halfords system - no doubt the thjule system costs even more...).
Thanks in advance if you can offer any help, we are all very keen cyclists so once we have our system up and running it will be well used.
Karyn :)

The bars are 150mm long, Thule 763, but I use clamps from a cheaper set up that came my way. 775 is the Thule number that would do the job, though the cheaper 757 may work. Best pop along to Halfords with a bit of tube and try the 2 out, just don't buy from there! Longer stronger bars are available too, though of course ,not cheap. If you dont intend removing them a lot,you can fix the bars with u bolts, but that would mean drilling the bars.

Thanks I knew you would know! Like you have suggested I will try em out in Halfords before purchasing. It looks like both sets of feet have locks included which is good. Its just a shame the bars for my car cant be utilised but I suppose we might still use them from time to time.
We are having a long weekend in the tent next week, as so far we have only had I night a way as a practise. Keen to put the tent up again this side of christmas incase we forget how to do it! Cant wait for next year tho to get away more often with the bikes and really make the tent earn it's keep!

Ian,if you are anywhere near Stockport, you can borrow the ones I use,Thule bars but cheap clamps. The thing though is they aren't lockable.

hi I just wanted to report back that we got the Thule bars 763 and footpack 775 from halfords using an online discount code. We picked the 775 footpacks as they are lockable. We already had some halfords roof mounted cycle carriers which are also lockable and my husband has attachted them to the bars so we are all set forfirst camp of the year next weekend. It looks really neat with the bike on top I am really pleased. When we go abroad next year we will probably have to leave the bikes on overnight and we will further enhance security by padlocking the bikes diectly to the luggage rack but also you need to park sensibly. My hubby has a ok mountain bike and a very expensive one - we would never leave that one on a bike over night! Thanks for all your advice was a good cost effective option for us. :-D
