I have recently purchased a 1985 Conway folding caravan. That's right, a caravan, not a camper. It has solid walls all round. The roof lifts up with the Jayco type winch and four posts. I have not seen this model before and cannot find any information. The only other name on the unit is "Kari" which is on the front and the rear sides. The mgw is 662kg and it is a two berth with an end kitchen. There is a fridge and a sink, but strangely, no fitted cooker.
Any information would be most helpful?

Well, I've decided that the body tub is that of a Conway Laser camper but somewhere along the way it has been given solid rather than canvas sides. This would more likely to have been done by Conway themselves as the layout is exclusive to this unit. As it is not listed anywhere I am wondering if this is a one-off done as an experiment or a special order? I am unable to access the Conway forum at the moment so I will have to wait and see.

its a Conway Jayco Laser (CJL) imported I expect fron the USA as many were and the Conway Badge placed on it.

Just had a word with David Lowe who worked for Conway for 27 years and was the main player of importing the Jayco folding Campers and then manufacturing them under licence. He assures me that your Kari was not produced at Conway nor is it a product brought in from America.
It looks to me like a modification to a Jayco Laser body with the bed ends removed and body height increased by some clever and skillful person.
Hope this is helpful.

That is most helpful and I appreciate the time and trouble that everyone has gone to to provide the information.
Blackrex, that confirms exactly what I had in mind.

Well, due to a change in circumstances I have decide to sell the Kiri. I have fitted a new carpet and tested the mains electrics which are fine. I have placed an ad on here and on Preloved so I'll wait and see what happens. If nothing, then I'll list it on ebay. This really is a unique and cosy caravan so I hope someone has the time to spruce her up a bit.
