My jockey has a slot which holds it rigid if wound up,so that dropping it with the clamp is not enough. Maybe yours is similar.A bent shaft is also a possibility.

Yes Phill, as Miserly says, screw you jockey wheel down a few inches and then try rolling your FC.

The slots on the shaft are for holding the wheel steady after you have raised it after hitching the FC to the car tow ball.

is it the wheel that won't turn,or the inner shaft that won't turn around inside the outer shaft?

On top of the tube that goes into the clamp, there should be a winding handle.

You undo the clamp and drop the jockey wheel to about 4" off the ground, then reclamp it. You then wind the jockey wheel down onto the ground and continue winding until it takes the weight of the FC. This not only lifts the front of the FC slightly, but it also takes the brackets that hold the actual jockey wheel out of the two slots in the tube and allows the jockey wheel to rotate sideways as you move the FC round and about.

Hopefully this picture will attach ...

you notice the notches that are just above the bracket that holds the wheel, these notches are a locking system that the bracket slots into when the jockey wheel is wound all the way UP.

As others have said, you need to wind the wheel DOWN in order to disengage this locking system, if this is already the case and it still won't spin then I would suggest you need a new jockey wheel.

Good luck

Take the whole unit off the trailer by unscrewing the clamp. Unwind the handle as far as it will go. It should come out completely. Spray copious amounts of penetrating fluid down the tube and leave for a few days. Withdraw the wheel tube. (you may need a long bar placed down the tube and a hammer) If the two tubes will not seperate then it's time for a new jockey wheel.

I've got a porch awning which I bought from Tamworth Camping. They usually have some great deals. The awning fits my folder like a full size. Others are available on ebay.
