Hello everyone I have bought my first trailer tent recently!
A 2000 conway classic and hoping to get some great fun out of it with my young family!
The weather being the way it is I Haven't opened it but its seem nice and dry under the cover and in clean condition!
I seen loads of pictures of it erect before I bought it and the older gentleman seemed genuine enough.
I'm currently storing it in a shed out of the weather but
I'm getting a little paranoid that the canvas and other contents are going to get damp and possibly mouldy!
Iv thought about putting some dry bags/damp trap bags under the cover would this help or be a waist of time?
Would it be better kept outside so it could air!
Or will everything be ok and I should concentrate on booking some sites!

as you have your tt in a shed and aslong as the shed is dry,it will be fine in there.

i know some use them,but i agree they are a waste of time in a tt/fc as these units are not air tight so how can they work when the damp air is always changing?
i did run a dehumidifier in mine for a while and the amount of water in the tank scared me half to death,until i thought about it.

as miserly said above, 'mouse traps'....
this is probably a greater danger if you know it went away dry...nice and warm in there.....
it would pay to open it monthly or so if dry days appear to give it an airing and check it out.

I have left my combicamp on the drive. It had the thick PVC cover on it but I have put a tarp under that and also a tarp on the top tied down with rope. So in effect the combicamp cover is sandwiched between two tarps. I'm hoping that will be ok but as soon as good weather comes I will air it.
I want to wash the inner tents and curtains too. I may also recover the beds/seats.

I store mine in the garage. My 'test' is to check that the cardboard boxes that are also in the garage remain crisp. Cardboard will absorb any moisture and become soggy if the humidity is too high and that would be an indication that I need to do something.

So see if there is any cardboard stored in the shed and see what state it is in.

As for pest control I'm a little more familiar with as my father has a farm
And don't bother with mouse traps get hold of some Tom Cat poison!
They can't resist it! Put some down and before you know it they will have eaten it! Keep putting it down until it stop disappearing and then you know there nothing left to eat it?
Once the weathers better I get mine up a get it aired.
I suppose even removing the PVC cover on a dry windy day would help would it?
Out of curiosity how much does a new canvas cost?

That's a very clever idea ollie there's a few cardboard boxes in there
I don't think there crisp dry but there definitely not soggy

I keep my TT in a garage which is 90% waterproof (odd small leak here and there). I The TT is covered, but the cover is not strapped down, so hopefully some circulation of air. I also put an old thick quilt over the top of the tent and the cover over the quilt - the idea is to make sure that the canvas is not touching the cover

It all seems to work fine (touch wood)

We purchased a Protec cover for our 2010 Conway Countryman as we found the attached cover not perfect in really bad weather.  Used the Protec for two years now as we store our unit outside and no problems!  Cost £126
