Trailer tents vary in how long they take to pitch, if you're going for a fortnight at a time that doesn't really matter, but if you do a lot of weekends you might like to consider one of the quick erect styles. They all have their pros and cons.

Have you looked at any Dandy Folding campers, they are made out of PVC not canvass so last for years and years (they can also be put away wet which is brilliant). Your budget of £1500 would get you quite a decent one and as I said the age doesn't matter because they last for ever.
They're not everybody's cup of tea I know but we adore ours and its in brilliant condition despite being 18 years old. There are quite a few on eBay at the moment (search under Dandy Camper and/or Dandy Trailet tent ) so why not have a look.
There is actually a thread on this forum showing one of the very old Dandys being completely rebuilt, but that is one of the very old style ones you can get much newer models and now is the time to buy.

Well for £2500 you can get a really excellent Dandy. They are so easy to put up and down very simple process and there's a video on You Tube showing you how.
Probably their main selling point is the fact that if they do have to go away wet, you don't need to put them up again to dry them out you can just leave them until the next time you go away.
You can get 4 and 6 berth and with your car you could easily tow both sizes.

Before you buy look at both tt and FC. Personally I would go with a TT as I feel that a FC is too close to a Caravan, while a TT is like a luxury tent with proper beds

Yes but FC are so much easier to pitch and take down no pegging out etc (except if you have an awning). You can also take FC on to sites where Tents and TTs aren't allowed so it broadens your choice of where to stay 😀
So it would be a FC every time for me.

I have never found a problem going on a "no tents" site, nor even on a "tents only" site

Not sure about commercial sites but we are CC members and take our TT (Raclet Solena) onto club sites whether tents are allowed or not.

Folding campers are quicker to pitch if you can manage without the awning space. If you think you will always need the awning then the difference in pitching times is not so pronounced, and they are bigger and heavier units. Again, I think it depends upon the type of trips you like to take.
