Looking for a new tow car to pull my pathfinder tc600, problem is I'm not sure if the FC is classed as an unbraked trailer, if so how do you decide what to tow with as most of the cars we have looked at are between 700 and 750 kg for an unbraked trailer.
Really confused.

An un-braked trailer is precisely that, a trailer without brakes and is easy to spot.. as a braked trailer would have a large handbrake leaver in the a frame near the front coupling.. typically small trailer tents are un-braked although not all and i would expect most if not all folding campers would be braked, the pathfinder is a big trailer and so i would expect it to be braked.
the reason you can tow more on a braked trailer is because you are not relying completely on the cars brakes, the braked trailers are designed to apply its own brakes as you slow down.. thus allowing more weight to be towed, its not so much a case of if you can pull it its a case of can you stop!.. lol
700kg seems to be a standard max for an un-braked trailer.. the max for a braked trailer varies on the size of the car
no
by the way the max for an unbraked trailer is 750kg,but not that many cars are rated to tow that much.mine is only 550kg unbraked, and 1300kg braked.
