Hi-we have just bought a Pennine Pathfinder and are really looking forward to our first outing.I have been searching campsites trying to plan this summers holidays and was just wondering regarding tarriffs-do sites charge a FC as a tent or a caravan and are they usually welcome on CCC certificated sites? Any advice or recommendations from experienced fellow folding campers would be most welcome please.
CC Club sites charge the same for whatever unit, except backpackers who they hide in the marshy bit behind the bins. They charge extra for ehu and jumbo pitches.
No idea about certificated sites, sorry, though they are limited to the number of caravans,so you may need to be a trailer tent!
For commercial sites,as Kate says,go for the cheapest.

We prefer a hardstanding and EHU and so the only time we have been on a C&CC CS withour Dandy we definitely took one of the caravan spaces.
I know it's a bit of a gray area, but I always tend to think of Folding Campers such as your Pennine and our Dandy as equivalent to a caravan (just happens to have folding canvas (or PVC!) sides) while a Trailer Tent is more like a tent in a trailer and so is more at home among the other tents.
C&CC CL's are limited to just 5 Caravans, but can take as many Tents as they like. If you want to book at the last moment, and it looks like good weather, always say you are a Trailer Tent, you will get in.
Call yourself a Convertible Caravan and you may not get on as you will be counted as 1 of the 5 allowed.
Hardstandings are great, then you are a Folding Camper/Convertible Caravan, of course!
CC CL's are obviously not interested in Tents and would put their noses up at you.
Thanks guys- your info is really useful-looks like we can have best of all worlds-just use description to suit.Didn't realise we could be members of CC with FC-we're already CCC members as have always camped in a tent previously but the more sites we have to choose from the better!! A great excuse to go away more often lol
Looks like weather might be ok this weekend so think i'll try to book a caravan hardstanding/EHU pitch like you evenstephen -just for the novelty of it.
Thanks for that MickeyTake-I obviously need to get savvy!!
Hope we don't get any leaks like you did or probs with plumbing etc that i've read about on other posts.Fingers crossed -Won't travel too far from home just in case
Hope you got your probs sorted & compo for spoiled hols!!
I'm absolutely gutted about the leaks, my wife doesn't get angry - however, she was after a night of mopping up water!! Then packing up in the rain, mud all around, soaked clothes and coming home early.
That is bad enough, to then get the response from the Dealer as I have compounds our misery.
You should have much better luck than that, happy Camping!
