Hi we purchased our pennine pathfinder last year after selling our Conway trailer tent we have only started camping last year so we are relatively new to this however we used the our camper last July fr a week in Norfolk at Waxham Sands. We had a problem with the sink waste water coming out of the drainage bowl checked for usual blockage in outlet but all ok.

Is this a common problem of water discharging onto the work surface below the sink if the sink is pretty full?. I have sealed all the edges on the underside of the unit with Varnish.

Yes its a known weakness and there are plenty of threads on here with a number of solutions to alleviate it.

I've found that the Pennine design will work provided that the following are observed:
a) The sink bowl outlet is fitted with a 'penny' in the middle that slows the water down to avoid overloading the discharge below.
b) You must make sure the discharge bowl doesn't get blocked with food waste.
c) Make sure the drain tube outside is not allowed to sit below the water surface in the wastemaster or otherwise inhibit free discharge of draining water.

The most popular modification is to fit a longer tube on the bottom of the sink so that it goes down inside the drain tube below and bypasses the lower discharge bowl.

I think it is,i dont think the water can travel down the pipe into waste as fast as it leaves the sink so the small drain beneath the sink fills with water and overflows, i was advised to put a coin in the bottom of the sink to reduce the flow and this seems to work

My fix was to not use the under bowl. I removed the centre strainer and I fitted a new longer piece of waste tube through the hole and just connect it directly to the sink

I had enough of the water going everywhere!!!

Put a 2p coin in the sink, this way when you empty the sink the 2p coin slows the rate at which the water drains into the drain sink below, works perfect and is a cheap fix at only 2p. :)

Everybody else uses a penny, you are just doubling the expense.

Thanks everyone now have another problem bathroom sink leaking now. I decided today to purifier the water system connected electric aquaroll and got heater going water to sink. All ok did not have a penny but used 20p. Got water to toilet basin all ok could not get water to the thetford toilet flush but water from basin when lifted to drain I could hear water running down which seemed a little strange but noticed water on the bathroom floor and under the carpet next to toilet in front of king size bed. I am aware of the basin drain issue so I lifted it very slowly.

Is this a problem with the toilet flush, basin or has something on the drainage pipe work either come away or something else.

I did drain the whole system down including the little drained tube by the side of the thetford cassette

Any help would be appreciated

Hi tezkhan,
I did have water go into my toilet when I had the sink problem to begin with. But since using a coin it's been all dry.
I read that when putting the bathroom sink back up water runs from the sink onto the toilet and the floor. Or another issue also I've read is the push fit on the back of the sink, when the toilet room is folded down, there is a hole to access all the pipe work check there also that pipes are connected.
Also the toilet needs to be filled up where you pull the cassette out, mine is a 2005 pathfinder and has a grey tube at the top you pull out and undo the green lid( not connected to toilet) and fill with water from there.
Hope this helps I've not had mine that long and learning a lot every time I take it ou. Which is about 5 times so far.

You can improve the drainage and sealing of the washroom sink by fitting an additional seal using white duct tape. This is a photo of my first attempt but I've since improved the design of the centre seal to avoid it going limp when hit by hot water. More photos on Flickr.

Thanks Mr T I thought the flush worked from the water connection so that's one problem solved I folded the bathroom wall down to check pipe work and found quite a lot of water on the floor and down the back panel behind the basin. I have taken that timber backing panel off with the light and mirror and found I think the problem the hose seems to have come off the basin plug .

I have removed the basin as it simply locates onto a couple of pivot points. The one on the left as you face the mirror has a large hole in the side to take the pipe from the plug. This then goes through a hold down clip before it is connected onto a 3 way junction pipe. This drains the basin when in the horizontal position. The slot at the back of the basin is connected onto anther pipe which connects onto the same 3 way junction pipe. The bottom of which goes out through the floor to the drain.

I think what was happening the main pipe had loosened off and the water then run down the pipe onto the floor. The wet patches on the bathroom framework bears witness as the main drain for the basins is on the left had side. Interestingly I thought the water drained out of the basin via the funnel under the basin but that's not the case the main water discharges into a large corrugated pipe and the other pipe takes what ever is left when the basin is raised. I am going to fix this tomorrow as I have removed the basin and part separated the basin shells to get access to the plug outlet.

There is no pipe clamps its just pushed on and silicon joint a little weak given that the basin is raised and lowered. My fix for this is to silicon drain plug into basin and secured with the screw I will put a silicon joint around the connection as well as a jubilee clip to secure then re seal the basin on 3 sides the rear I am going to part seal on each side at the rear to help prevent water running out at the sides of the basin.

All in all simples but its been a find and see if that works approach.

I report with photos tomorrow for others to see hw to fix if they have similar problem.

It took me ages to find out how to fill the toilet up, but knowing drinking water is normally not mixed with the use of toilet, due to contamination. It took me ages to find the pipe with the cassette.
I've only really had the bad kitchen sink,which leaked to the toilet floor.
I'm hopefully about to solve the massive problem of the draught blowing up around the gas struts if you have these fitted.
Common problem but no one yet has come up with a fix.

Hi Mr T thanks for your comments may be a new basin not sure how this works been thinking about problem why have 2 drain points for the basin I have now fixed the pipe to the basin and re sealed it with silicon. It may be that the pipe was never connected to the plug. I think I dropped a boo boo. The water must drain into the hand basin and when full then go out of the basin via the large pipe on the left then when you lift basin the remaining water must then drop out of the bottom into the funnel drain oops I don't think the basin will take anymore separating as I silicon it all in place

I can only think it was the side seal where the large pipe enters the basin must of failed and the water leaked out there.

Need to get this sorted quick as we are going away on the 16 May

Hi tezkhan, think I've seen them photos, I've put that on already after seeing them. But I get a big draught by my gas struts, and when siting down blow cold air around my neck. Bit of a bad design, but I'm sure I now have the answer, if it works.
I'm going to wait till a dry day then have a go and if successful post some pictures up.
