Have other people noticed the number of Trailer tents on ebay that have only been used once or twice. One advertised today has only been used (claimed) for one week in its entire life.

I would be a mighty expensive holiday to buy a Trailer Tent new, and just use it for one week.

I'm always amazed how fc and tt's always come from a no pets, non smoking home, even dealers use this line. There was one on ebay recently which stated "hardly used "in the description ,followed by "stayed waterproof during many wet holidays"!

I do personally know someone who bought a top-of-the-range folding camper, together with every possible accessory the salesman could throw at them, and used it for one four-night trip before deciding that it was all too much trouble

I think it was sold on ebay at a massive loss so some of the claims are genuine. Some people have more money than sense.

Come on guys give these sellers the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they've fallen on hard times and trying to get some money to feed their kids. What do you want them to say? Used so much it's worn out, dog's wee damage on the bedding and the cigarette stub marks around the kitchen sink, otherwise only suffering from a small leak here and there!

In my experiences it's usually one half of the couple who is enthusiastic and convinces/encourages the other half to 'give it a try, you'll love it'.   Then reality strikes and coerced partner declines to do it again.  Result - single camper with large tt/fc or reluctant sale after near divorce experience!  Wet packs are usually the finisher. 17

I suppose that we were almost in that boat a few years ago.... however, we bought a second hand TT for a few hundred pounds, not a top of the range FC for £6000 or more

Needless to say, we scraped by on that first camping trip (the trip from hell, nothing has ever come close since) and are a happy Trailer Tenting family now

When we bought our second hand crusader it can't have been used more than a few times if at all...all the curtains were still sealed in their original packets and it was immaculate inside - toilet was sparkling...it was basically a new camper for second hand price.

I wasn't 100% convinced when we bought it that we'd like it...but for now, it suits us, especially for our summer holiday in France...there is NO WAY I could take our 7 year old on a hotel holiday and have a good time...she's a menace and needs to be able to run free and campsites, both here and abroad, are ideal for that.

I have a trailer tent that hardly gets used

It has been used 1 week a year for the last 3 years.

I have other set ups I prefer, the sensible thing would be to sell it ,I feel bad it doesn't have the use it should- a cracking tent.

The reason I'm hanging on to it is purely emotional.
My dad bought it for me as a total surprise for a birthday present. It was the last present I had from him - as sadly I lost him.

I still want to sell it - but it's hard to let go at the same time...

Yeh i think you have to view the tt or fc and make your own mind up on how its been used. We bought a suncamp tt, liked it but not the set uptime, so got a fc. Only used the tt about twice before it got sold!

I suppose I am guilty too.  I have a 2001 Comanche Montana which I bought last year and used once.  I have a caravan on a seasonal pitch and bought the tt for when we wanted to go elsewhere as I hate towing a caravan and we would need to buy a new tow car as ours isn't a good match (well TBH it isn't any sort of match!)

However, we are taking the tt to Holland and Germany this summer for six weeks so it will earn its keep this year.

The "hardly used" FC that we bought a couple of years back was exactly that.

Indeed neither the Loo nor the cooker had ever been used and the whole thing was like brand new.

So there are some good buys to be had if your lucky.

I bought one (2nd hand) as I liked the idea of all the room. It was only when we went away the first time and we tried to put it up we realised how hard it was. I'm only 5'2 and normally have to erect our tents on my own. I realised it wast just to much so sold it when I got home and went back to an ordinary tent

We did well and bought a FC from lovely genuine people who had had TT and FC before and family illness meant they hadn't used it much. They sold to us for a really good price and wanted it to have a good home. It was an upgrade for our Sunncamp which was used just about 60nights. Seemed to have been emotionally attached to the Sunncamp. Weird but it does mean it lengthens the amount of times we go away and you know with you are safe and cosy with a TT or FC compared to a standard tent. They are hard work to put up but that's all part of the hobby....(I am the one who convinces the husband that an upgrade is a good idea!)
