Has anyone checked them recently? Any tips or hints? And where to buy new brake shoes if needed.

Best have it checked and serviced by a caravan/fc specialist.  Peace of mind and not usually expensive. It'll also benefit  insurance and resale value.

I have got to look at ours in next week as ours lock up and make the trailer bounce. cant think they will be very complex and would be very surprised if you will need new shoes.

Yeah they're only drum brakes, it's just the adjustment etc.i always take a photo with my phone just incase any springs happen to pop out lol.
