Cos I'm a tight ass and becasue I did not want the extra weight of full size steel awning poles I have been on the look out for something lightweight to keep my kitchen window open while cooking and on the very rare chance that we might go somewhere hot (France this year, fingers crossed) something simalar to prop open the bedroom windows. I looked at ali, carbon firbe and fibre glass tubes all expensive to purchase in small lengths then I happened on these... Wilko net rod's for net curtains: Lightweight sliding steel tubes in available in four lengths 40-60cm, 60-100cm, 100-150cm and what I have purchased 150-200cm for £2.35! They are only thin steel tubes of 6.8mm sliding into one of 8.7mm in diameter. So they are never going to withstand any weight or wind but to keep a window flap open should be fine. They come with 3 small right angle hooks one of which I have fixed into the top of the pole to stop it sliding off the eyelet. Just got to workout how to secure the tubes at the right height. I'm thinking I could just drill another hook through once I have the correct length. Anyway off camping this bank holiday so I'll let you know how they workout.
