We have an elddis advante 540 with a central jockey wheel. The clamp is so stiff if has to be hammered on and off. Despite this the wheel is still dropping down in transit which appears to be making the problem worse and has pretty much written of the wheel itself in the process! It also fails us when pitching up as we think it's clamped when its not! Does anyone know if you could replace this yourself and if so how you 'get to' the wheel. After waiting nearly a month for a mobile repair chap to come and look at it he has let us down today and we keep thinking 'it can't be that hard can it?' We just can't work out how to get to it as the a frame has a full plastic cover on it that we can't work out how to remove!! Any tips or advice would be so welcome, we are away again next weekend and really wanted it sorting by then (which should have been the case if our booked repair man had turned up!)

Have you tried spraying the handle part of the clamp with wd40 sounds like its been over tightened.
If your changing the wheel itself on the jockey, it's usually held on via a split pin, easily removed.
As for the clamp itself probably only bolted on, I know with the pathfinder the white plastic cover is riveted on, which means would have to be drilled out.

Yes, he tried that first. It made it a bit easier but as you say, think it has been over tightened in the past so it now appears to be getting worse. Thanks for replying though!
