Run the fridge on gas, no FC will run the fridge off the battery as it will only last an hour or so, fridges are very power hungry.
We use gas for the fridge and can easily manage two weeks off the battery including charging iPads and phones up.
I am presuming this is a 3-way fitted fridge as in most FC's. There is no risk from fumes as the vent is outside, usually behind two white plastic vents, one high and one low. The high one is the hot vent and the low lets cooler air in.

What fridge is it?
There is usually a couple of switches, a knob for the gas and an igniter button.
The big switch is usually the mains on/off.
The small switch is 12v from the car while driving.
The knob is usually turned, pushed in, the igniter pressed a few times and the let go when the pilot light is going, there is a small window down the bottom corner of the fridge inside, through this you just about see the pilot light burning.
They can be fiddly to get going and it really helps to purge the gas pipe by running the cooker for a few seconds to make sure the pipes are full of gas before trying to light the fridge.
Once you figure it all out it does get easy, a bottle of gas has lasted us over a year so far.
