Hi everyone,
Does anybody have any advice for a problem we are having with our Folding Camper Velcro? The last two times we have used the camper in really bad conditions (Gale force winds on top of a cliff in Norfolk!) the canvas has blown off the body of the camper - the Velcro has not held. We were woken at 4am with the entire side behind the kitchen area flapping in the wind. We are not sure how to fix the problem - I thought of putting bull dog clips on the top of the canvas and clipping it to the aluminium strip but I'm sure there must be a better answer - we can't be the only ones this has happened to! Our unit is a 2003 Pennine Sterling, in otherwise very good condition -Many thanks

Thank you, I'll google their number - I did wonder if the Velcro on the aluminium strip might need replacing.

The velcro does seem to age and therefore doesn't hold as well as it should. We bought some replacement velcro and found the backing wasn't up to the job so used some locktite super glue to stick it on with. Went away last week in tremendous winds and held without an issue.

Try and get industrial Velcro...I don't know what the specification is on the Holtkamper, but I often have difficulty in forcing it apart. It is nearly 10years old and has just withstood gusts of 92 kph down here in the South of France.

Black Country Caravans should be able to get it for you as they are the Holtkamper dealers in the UK

I don't think its the velcro itself but more the fact that the hook AND Loop parts are coming away from the aluminium channels? That is how I read it anyway as we and many other it seemed had this problems on Pennine's

If you take the aluminium strips off the side and look underneath where it has come away there will probably be loads of old glue residue which takes a lot of scraping to get off. Pop riveting will give you a much better grip on the whole thing

Thanks everyone for the replies, I'm going to get some new velcro and ask my dad to pop rivet it on. We need it to hold, the cliff top sites we use are very unforgiving at 4 am!
