We are thinking of upgrading from our trusty trailer tent to a new Conway countryman, but I have heard that there can be leaking problems with the Isocryl fabric. Has anyone experience of this and/or would you recommend one of these campers?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Hi Jeff

We have just got a new pennine path finder which has the new isacryl fabric, I weathered it once and took it out for the weekend which rained hard and we had no leaks at all, so all happy here!

Hope this helps

Jeff

We bought a new Countryman Deluxe in March this year, we absolutely love it - the loo is a big boon, really wouldn't want one without now.

However, we were not happy with the leaks at first .... worth reading this excellent thread:-

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=10&TopicID=275595&PagePosition=8

Ours leaked because they had washed it after winter for us to view in March, and was not re-proffed properly. That has been done and it's now a real pleasure taking it away. Even the new Awning is light and easy to erect.

We came from a 1996 Countryman we had owned since new - so, knew when something was wrong - and also when something is right.

And it's right!!

I think I l'd avoid the early Countrymans with the old 'new' material, if you know what I mean? .... seems Pennine have kicked Isabella and made them stitch the fabrics better now. Buy brand new and I doubt you will have an issue.

Our 2010 new material model has had no problems whatsoever and we have been out in torrential rain more than once. There were two lots of new material about isocryl and isotec its only one of them that had the problem.I think it was the model after ours that they changed and I think that they have returned to the one that ours is made of but I am not sure about that

The Conway branded models have only used the Isacryl since it was introduced. The Isatex was only used on the Pennine Quartz branded models. The Pennine branded units are now using Isacryl as well.

Having read various posts on this forum, problems were experienced with both fabrics, as reports of a leaking Countryman must be Isacryl. However, we have a Quartz 4 with the apparently more vulnerable Isatex which (touch wood) we have had no leaks on at all. As Mickey take says, it would seem that Pennine have "kicked" Isabella and things are better.

So I would say go for it Jeff.

Alan

We have the 2013 Countryman and had an initial weathering leaks where the cotton stitching needed to swell in the kitchen corner seams but nothing since and its been in some heavy rain.

We are very pleased with it and think the layout inside is really spacious for our family of 3.
