How big is it pitched? My Camargue pitches out at 4.2m x 5.2m, plus an extra metre if we use the sun canopy too so 4.2m x 6.2m. Usually if your unit pitches at less than 8m x 5m you'll be fine, this will fit on an 11m x 11m pitch (C&CC standard) with the required 3m gap on each side and to the back.

Okay, I decided not to be lazy, I went and looked at the Stratos. 4.4m x 7.6m. Really, you should be okay with that on the majority of sites, it's when you go over 5m widthwise that you start having problems. I think you may have been unlucky. Some busy commercial sites try to cram you in like sardines of course and can't accept even medium tents, they're set up for caravans. But if you're happy to go in the tent field you should be okay, and if you don't take EHU you'll find huge pitches available.

Ditto, under 5m x 7m you really shouldn't have any problems, we never have, although its fair to say we've fellt a bit cramped from time to time, we've never been turned away. Is it possible the sites you've tried are just very busy and don't have a full size pitch left?

Hi Val, you ok?

Hi Alison, yes, I'm fine, had to take a year out because of spinal probs but I'm back in gear again, just very much slower! And going off on one of our epic Euro-trips in four days, yeah!

How's yourself?

Sorry to hear that, I hope everything's ok now. We're fine, just changing unit again!

Enjoy Europe, we don't even finish term until the end of July, I'm jealous!

Hollylib, where do you want to go?

Haven sites are just the sort I meant when it comes to sardines and tiny pitches. They're not really campsites for camping, they're entertainment complexes that have a bit of reluctant space for tents iyswim? You'll find that you won't have a problem on most regular campsites though.

The only place we've camped over there is the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Scarborough, so can't add anything I'm afraid. Try the site search on here, its very good and you can read reviews from real people as well!

Hi, try Woodhouse farm near Winksley , Ripon. Not too far from you and they have very large pitches, excellent site.

We now have a Trigano Olympe, but used to have the Chantilly, never had a problem booking. Only site that we will not be returning to is Flower of May - they started cramming you in that tight that it was a squeeze getting the car in.

Best regards,

Tony
