Hi im having a bit of a problem with my old transcamper trailer tent
When we bought it the previous owner said it would require "reproofing" 3 bottles of fabsil gold later its all done and waterproofed...... Or so i thought :'(
In one corner the material is almost see through and today it decided to rain and ................. Yip you guessed right its leaking like a tap :'( :'(
The area is around 30cm x50cm ish
So i was thinking it will have to have a patch over the top?
Dose anyone kno if its possible to seal the fabric without patching???
Any other help would be reely apreciated especially as havving next to no money for big expensive repairs :( :(
Thanks
Kev
------------- it was broke before i touched it........... honest :)
It possibly has remnants of an unsuitable cleaner in the fabric which breaks down the natural waterproofing properties of the canvas, and stops the reproofer from "taking". A really good clean with a pure soap cleaner, followed by a million rinses will probably sort it. Chances are though ,you will have to reproof again,so only clean the affected panel. If it is see through when dry though,it will need a patch, nothing wrong with a temporary one held on with tenacious tape if its not under a lot of stress.

Mmmmm ok thanks for the advice so the trailer tent's not goin to the tip just yet then lol
Another quick question if you dont mind :)
I was told to coat the area with tear mender on both sides this will seal the almost seethrough and make it waterproof again.
Not sure if they were taking the pi#* or not lol
Thanks again
Kev.
