hi, we're just looking at buying a grand c max for towing our folding camper. has anybody experience with the 1.6l engine or do we need a 2.0?

We have a 1.6 HDI citroen picasso, have towed a conway countryman and now have a pennine quartz4. Tows these plus 2 bikes beautifully.

I had the 2.0 diesel galaxy for a little while very impressed, and know someone who pulls a massive caravan with one.

Hi Josa ,

              I tow a Conway cruiser with a 1.4 civic with no problems. Its max laden weight is 750kg,The four berth campers are around the same weight, unless it is a very recent countryman (the one with the toilet)  its a little heavier.

A 1.6 will tow ok but I would go for the 2.0 as a little more power when towing is always appreciated

My husband has a 1.6 TDCi C-max and that tows our Pennine Fiesta no problem, averaging 48-49mpg at 60mph.

We've got a Ford Focus 1.6 that tows our Conway Cardinal with no problem. Have a look on your log book, it should tell you your towing weight.

2.2 Diesel Civic here with 340Nm of torque .... it can pull a battleship - always go for the bigger engines.

You need to check your towing weights first, some family cars like the zafira or c max don't have good towing weight for the size of the car and once fc on the back dose not leave you much for anything else unless you go for a diesel. We had a 1.6 scenic it was gutless.

For the towed vehicle, scroll down and add trailer ... then select the top one on the next page ... then you will be able to adjust all weights etc to fit your FC on the next page.
