I posted earlier this season as we have a 12 volt problem! The replies were all thanked but!!Where can I get a replacement for the electrical unit? There is a phone number on the unit in Lancs but when I rang I asked the gentleman {I use the term lightly} If they where still the same people that service the unit!! He was so rude he just growled at me and put the phone down!! I would like to get this on replaced or repaired has anyone any ideas? please/Or does anyone know of a reliable person that can do it for me? You just hear of so many horror stories I would sooner use a recommended person or company if possible. I will pay anyone and feed them if they have to travel!! of course lol Thank you in advance. Take care to all. Looks like it's getting warmer at last . lol     Yvonne

Perhaps best to take it to a local caravan dealer/repairer.

Plenty of mobile caravan service engineers online - find one and do a google search on them, pick one with good feedback ................. you won't even have to feed them!

Good luck!

OK I will try that, I am a bit of a sinick at times (do you spell it like that?)I know so many people who have been bitten, If I could I would have rather had a recommendation
from someone who has used them, Feedback can be so easily be manipulated, we have had caravans and also statics over the years and if you had seen and heard some of the things we have !!!! goodness it makes your toes curl , and I meant up and not down. lol Have a good season and take care ,   Yvonne.

This is the company that makes the PSU boxes for Pennine.

They should be able to help with your problem.

Thank you for that Lobey! Ours is a little different to that but I am going to give them a ring on Monday to see which way to jump I need to know if they will interchange etc, I also need to see if I am sure that it needs replacing. Thanks again I will let you know how things progress, I wanted to get her up today and check out the blessed fridge as that failed and stopped working on gas 2 days before we came home!! So at the moment I am getting a little stressed at her lol she is not behaving at all like a lady!! I want to get her sorted before I get my leg op done if I can!!as my hubby is not so good on these thing as myself and if she is sorted I get away after my op for a few days as I have a longer re cooping time that I was expecting. Thanks again, wish me luck Lobey. All the best. Yvonne

Sorry Yvonne, I have not heard of a "Plug In System".

The only thing I can think of is that by plugging in the mains, the PSU can recharge the battery and also drop the mains to 12v to run the water pump, lights etc.

Does your Pennine have a Battery?

Hello again,
What I did was to bypass the unit itself, used croc clips from the battery to a 5 socket cig lighter socket with a switch on ,put two small croc clips on the water pump and a cig lighter fitting on the other end, up through the back of the shelf and then we just plug the the lights into this again with cig lighter fittings, LOL works though!! as for the battery we have a good sized leisure so we can just pull it out and charge it although if we connect it to the mains all the lights work on the unit! and the battery indicator works , so I wonder if the charger is working through the mains? We love Shell Island in Wales on the coast there and we have to use Gas an 12 volts , that is why it is such a bloody pain in the bum lol !!!!!    xx Yvonne

Okay. The PSU (power supply unit) does 3 jobs.

1. It is the safety fuse box for the Mains Supply coming into the unit.

2. It also reduces the AC Mains to 12v to run all the 12v sockets in  the unit.

3. If switched on, it will recharge your battery.

If you have a meter, disconnect the battery, plug the unit onto the mains, switch on the charger and see if there is any power going to the battery leads.
Alternatively, leave the leads on the battery but do the rest and see if the voltage on the battery rises between not being charged and being charged.
Not being charged, the reading should be 12+V. Being charged it should rise to 14+V.

It sounds, from what you have said, that the wiring in the Camper is okay.
I take it you have checked all the fuses, remembering that there is an Inline Fuse, normally situated under the Battery Box and you have to feel under the box to find this one.

If you are on battery only (Shell Island) you can recharge your leisure battery in the boot of the car by running a plug with crocodile clips from the pins 2 & 3 from the 12s socket on the towbar of your car.
These pins would normally recharge the FC battery as you are towing, and will also recharge the Leisure Battery (same one) if you are driving about during your stay.
Just make sure the battery is well tied down in the boot.

Thanks once again Lobey,
We will get her up in the morning, I have checked the in line fuse, Our battery on this Fiesta 2+2 is in the cupboard inside the camper! a bit of a pain as evrythng you do is flat on your stomach lol I have bypassed all the wiring on the 12 volt to use the way I said, but everything does seem to work when on the mains!! I will check the battery in the morning, I have to admit I have never checked the flat funny fuses that are in the unit , I am not sure how do I check them? I have a meter but being a bit long in the tooth I have never had to check this kind lol. As fat as the Island the battery we have normally lasts we do have another a smaller one and you can get things charged up on the island for £2.00p if you need it but thanks for that !!! We also take along a jump start and they are great as we can charge up phones, nook readers laptops etc. I must admit we take a tv with built in DVD but never even take it out the car!!lol love the peace , that is why we go away when the kiddies are at school!!!! lol Anyway Thanks again my night /star and I will get back to you if I can stand up when I crawl out of the b--dy thing again!!!!!!!! Oh if you can tell me how to check those ----ing fuses I would be really gratefull    Yvonne.

As far as I remember, your meter will have a setting where it you touch the two prongs together, a buzzer will sound.

So to check the fuses, you disconnect the battery, take each fuse out one at a time and touch one prong to one end and the other prong to the other end and if the meter buzzes, then you know that that fuse is okay.

But!!!!

If everything is working when the mains are on then it sounds to me as if it is just the recharging of the battery that is the fault or a fault between the battery and the PSU.

If you cannot find any fault then you may have to call in a professional who knows about these things.
