My wife and I have gone through the gambit. Tent. caravan and most recently a motorhome ( Hovel)

As I am having to give up driving, da missis isn't happy towing a caravan or driving a MH, She does however feel she would be able to manage a trailer tent.

Any info would be appreciated but specificly are the beds robust enough to take an 18 stone, 6' 4" lump like me?

Hi Pete, I am 6' 4" and a lot heavier than 18 stone.

My wife is large too and we each use the beds in a Pennine Pathfinder. One double bed each.

If just 2 the Trigano Odysee, if more the Trigano Olympe. Both have slatted beds are easy toput up and last for years. As for towing you don't know that they are there.

For two of you I would also look at a Trigano Alpha, which has a slatted bed and would cope with weights you refer to.

The towing is great as it is no wider than the width of the car so no extra mirrors needed. Also you can see out the rear view mirror.

My Raclet Jade has solid bed bases and has survived the joint weight of me and my other halfs 30 stone and a bit more probably.As for towing providing the car is capable of pulling the trailer as said before, you don't know it's there, sometimes even forget it's there.

Well I have gone and done it. Bought a 2010 Sunncamp 240se off of ebay for £450. The bloke says he has only used it twice. Anyway as it is cash on collection, we shall see.

Hi, my OH and I are about 32 stone each and I come in at about 6' 5 so I wouldn't worry about it.

Enjoy camping we love it

Well we picked her up yesterday and we are absolutely thrilled. It is like new. Only £450 off of ebay as well. There are certainly some bargains to be had out there at the moment. The seller showed us how to erect it and we have done it home here a couple of times. I'm really surprised how easy it is.

My wife drove home the 100 miles with our Focus, no problem, so that is a big bonus.

Of course no trip ever goes smoothly, well not for us it doesn't! The car (diesel) just died twice, I turned the ignition switch off and started it again no problem. Most peculiar. I did notice this morning that the engine management light is on. I dunno, more expense I suppose

Mine did that a few times recently and it just needed the fuel filter changed. OH was embarrassed to have forgotten to change it during servicing, about which which he's normally extremely diligent.
