Hi guys, just bought a combicamp 2000, and was wondering if anyone has any info or stories to tell about these oh so simple trailer tents. And any hints or tips on erecting the awning, does the bed have an underbed store?
We had a Combi-Camp back in 1990 which were made in Denmark at the time but I think they went into liquidation or taken over by another company not long afterwards. I found that trying to get spares was rather difficult as I wanted an extension awning at a cost of £495 which was expensive back then and was almost the same price as what we paid for the folding camper. I had to wait several weeks for it as it was purchased by special order but rather disappointed with it when we erected it. Because the extended awning was a zip on attachment, when it rained you couldn't stretch the canvas which then caused severe pooling on the roof which was down to a poor design by not having enough support roof poles. We only used it a few times (mostly when it rained) and felt that the awning wasn't fit for purpose so not long after we sold the lot. Whether they have changed the designs now I'm not sure but you don't seem to see many about in comparison to other trailer tent and folding camper manufacturers.
Hi Steve & congratulations on your 'new baby'. Is it a side opener or an end opener (4 berth or 2 berth?) It probably doesn't have underbed storage as I think it's possibly an older model - ours is a 1997 Family Clan with kitchen, but it doesn't have the underbed storage. The awning is a pain the first time you put it up, but it gets easier - it takes us 15 minutes now - we zip the canvas on first, push it up onto the cabin roof, erect the poles next, then pull the canvas over & peg out.
Hi Joan thanks for the info. Ours is a 2 berth and i'm thinking we wont use the awning as we have bought a toilet/ utility tent. Oops and its a side opener, nearly forgot!!
