We have tried both ways, we have a Trig Randger and it's tall! So 'throwing' the awning over the roof is difficult and it does mean shoes off to stand on the cupboard unit to do it, unless of course you take some decent ladders with you. We have often thought of attaching rope to the loops and walking round the back of the camper to then pull the awning over, but we've never gotten around to buying some rope! Anyway, yes I agree, easy to assemble to poles once the awning is out of the way
