We have a recently purchased Conway challenger (1997 I think)

What I am after is something to put on ASWELL as the awning as a sun shade.

I have searched the internet and can't seem to find what I am looking for. It basically is a tarp that some how attaches to the top of the awning then comes out onto 2 or 3 poles which are secured by guys.

I know Conway don't actually make one but can someone point me in the direction of a make that might fit?

I hope that all made sense, I saw a picture of a Sun camp trailer tent with what I want on the "show us your tent photos" thread but wasn't sure if I should pinch it to put here

Thanks in advance

we have a challenger of the same sort of age. ours came with an awning and a sun canopy. i have been toying with the idea of fitting the sun canopy onto the front of the awning. maybe you could buy a sun canopy and do the same. they do come up on ebay from time to time

Tent Valeting Services might be able to advise, they do a lot of Conway work. Also I have this vague memory of a home made sun canopy for a Conway folding camper being discussed on the Conway Owners forums....

Ahah, here it is. It's for a Cruiser but it might give you some ideas. TVS will sell canvas by the metre, I think, or you could look out for an old canvas tent or TT flysheet to recycle.

The most annoying thing is the tent was advertised with a sun canopy and when we first put it up we realised it was missing! I had the same idea of adapting it to fit onto the awning but the seller is adamant it was in the trailer so we are currently battling with him!

Looks like whatever happens, the home made route is the best way.

Thanks for the links

You can buy a sun canopy from TVS thats ties on. Click on my avatar and you'll see it on my Conway Excel. Keep clicking and you'll get a bigger picture.

I wanted the same thing, I have looked at this and would have carabiners attached to the end of elastic cord to fit to the D rings for my guy ropes.

Would work for me, maybe something you could look at??

We have one now on our pathfinder and we had one on our Pullman, it was a universal awning canopy and I think we paid around £100 for each one, it was easy to adapt to the awning with guy ropes and it has served us well when we camp in France. I am trying hard to remember the name of the company who made it ( I want to say pyramid but may be wrong).
It is a light grey colour so did not match our Pullman or the pathfinder but we have always had comments about ihow good it looks.

I will try and dig a photo out.

Here we are. This is a picture taken yesterday of my Conway Excel, which is basically a Challenger,. It is unit, 1 metre extension, zip-on sun canopy and tie-on sun canopy. Bit silly, but just wanted to satisfy myself it could be done! Hope it helps!
